Purchasing Manager (all gender)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• In close cooperation with our Hamburg based project managers and the ships you are responsible for the purchasing of our cruise vessels.
• Research suppliers from a variety of usual and unusual sources
• Develop procurement and negotiation strategy based on few variables
• Perform moderately complex price analysis based on few variables and confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule
• Negotiate price, availability, and works with logistics to define transportation and delivery schedule (i.e. ordering and storing schedule)
• Manage supplier performance to ensure consistent service, high quality and low costs of goods/services
• Work independently with minimum supervision and freedom of decision within guidelines.
• Attend trade shows, audit suppliers, visit ships for loadings, repositioning etc.
• During worldwide drydocks of the vessels you will be part of the project team om scene

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Commercial vocational training or bachelor degree or equivalent Ships related procurement experience or specialized technical experience required
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages  
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities
• Negotiation and analytical skills required
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
• Fluent in English and German, both written and spoken
