As Head of Finance – Aircraft Maintenance, your focus will be to develop, manage, and lead a team of finance professionals in order to deliver a world class finance business partnering service to the Engineering &Maintenance Director & the heads of departments for Base Maintenance, Operational Maintenance & Part-M. You will have accountability for a cost base in excess of €0.4bn and be required to demonstrate cost stewardship whilst driving forward the generation & delivery of new and innovative initiatives. You will be responsible for the provision of financial information and high-quality support on all aspects of finance, including 3-year strategic plans, budgetary ownership, accounting balance sheets, capital investment and business case development, performance evaluation, forecasting, and driving the business to deliver financial commitments. You will also be required to take part in and lead strategic projects both in finance as well as within the E&M department.   

You’ll be responsible for providing a key interface into the three different AOC teams and the FP&A finance team for forecasting, planning, accounting, and operational insight behind the numbers. In addition, you’ll need to champion change and support the transition from regionally to functionally led. This is a key leadership role that will help to shape and influence the strategic direction and behaviours within the TUI Airline Finance function, and will be required to deputise for the Finance Director E&M where applicable.

Lastly this role will require you to build up subject matter expertise in a complex and technical area of the business, and translate this into the financial accounting, forecasting, and investment analysis required.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • Provide a world class finance business partnering service to the E&M Director & the heads of departments for Base Maintenance, Operational Maintenance & Part-M including consolidation of E&M overheads, direct labour, and facility costs.

  • Lead and deliver the budget & 3 year planning cycle outputs for Base Maintenance, Operational Maintenance & Part-M across all 5 x TUI Airline Entities as well as Tec 4 Jets.

  • Developing Financial & Operational KPI & reporting packs to support fact-based decisions for the business by turning data into insight

  • Driving a culture of cost efficiency across all business areas within role remit and leading & supporting on key strategic  projects within the E&M & Finance functions.

  • Lead and drive a culture of strong financial controls, compliance, and adherence to regulatory frameworks; ensuring adherence to governance mechanisms for investments and capital expenditure, as well as supporting the quarterly audit process within the AOCs.

  • Take the lead in maintaining & producing FTE & OD reporting across TUI Airline and continuing to improve this process. Drive forward the implementation of TUI Airline consolidated and consistent   overheads reporting packs.

  • Leading by example to develop and implement a high performing team culture across a pan European function, supporting with performance and promoting talent through succession planning

  • Embedding a culture of continuous improvement in order to remove waste from processes and drive harmonization across the TUI Airline AOCs.

  • Providing leadership, strategic context, and guidance to a high performing team through developing and shaping a clear structure, providing direction to a wide team, and developing cultural awareness and understanding of the TUI Airline strategy

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience qualified accountant (5 yrs. PQE - preferably ACA or equivalent) orEuropean university degree in business administration or similar, preferably with a focus on finance or controlling, and several years of experience working in finance/controlling
  • Extensive team leadership experience and experience in setting and achieving strategic objectives and in supporting colleagues across all functions.
  • Ability to strategize and solve problems using analytical approach
  • Possess the gravitas to ensure credibility demonstrated at all levels of the business
  • Demonstrable achievements in driving profit/cost and performance improvements, developing and driving strategy and commercial decision making
  • Able to produce and deliver high impact presentations of key performance information to all levels of the business.
  • Ability to develop great working relationships internally and externally
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and influencing skills 
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced, complex, matrix environment
  • Role requires strong business English, both spoken and written, and may involve some international travel
