Complete the practical phase of your Flight Operations Officer licence training

Our Practical Phase 2 Training is the second part of the German Flight Operations Officer (FOO) licence pathway and is conducted in accordance with LuftPersV §§112–114. Over approximately 14 weeks of full-time training, participants develop the practical competencies required to work as a Flight Operations Officer. The training takes place on-site at the TUI Group Operations Centre in Hannover-Langenhagen, providing direct exposure to the processes, systems and operational environment of a modern airline Operations Control Center.

Building on the theoretical knowledge acquired during Phase 1, relevant subjects are revisited and consolidated before being applied to operational tasks and realistic Flight Operations scenarios. Participants progressively move from guided training and exercises towards supervised application within the operational environment. The program therefore goes beyond classroom-based exercises. Participants learn how meteorology, flight planning, fuel requirements, aircraft performance, operational restrictions, flight monitoring and disruption management come together in daily airline operations and how information is evaluated to support safe and efficient operational decisions.

Phase 2 forms the practical training element of the German FOO licence pathway. Successful completion of the training alone does not automatically result in the issue of a licence. Participants must fulfil all applicable theoretical and practical requirements of the German licensing process.

Completion
Following successful completion of Phase 2 and fulfilment of all applicable licensing requirements, candidates can proceed within the German LBA licensing process towards the practical examination and issue of the Flight Operations Officer licence.

Training Format
Duration: approximately 14 weeks, full-time
Location: TUI Group Operations Centre, Hannover-Langenhagen, Germany
Training format: classroom training, practical exercises and supervised operational training
Delivery: on-site training

A valid aviation security background check (ZÜP according to §7 LuftSiG) is required for participation in the operational training environment.

Who is this training for?

  • Candidates pursuing the German Flight Operations Officer licence who have completed or received recognised credit for the required theoretical training and examinations.
  • Candidates with eligible aviation theoretical qualifications, such as recognised ATPL theoretical knowledge, subject to fulfilment of the applicable licensing requirements.
  • Flight schools and approved training organisations looking for an experienced partner to provide the practical Phase 2 element for their students.

If you are unsure whether your previous theoretical training or qualifications allow you to enter Phase 2 directly, our training team can review your individual training background and advise you on the appropriate next step.
