Manager Public Policy Belgium

Joining the Group Policy team as Manager Public Policy Belgium, the role will be driving TUI Group’s relations with the Belgian government(s) and policymakers. The role will strengthen the political presence of TUI in Belgium and will be acting as primary contact for the respective decisionmakers. Applying a holistic approach to working with government officials and policy makers, the role will support relevant TUI business areas, e.g. airlines, tour operators and hotels and resorts and act in an advisory capacity for the management of TUI.

ABOUT THE JOB

• Build and maintain strong and reliable relationships with government representatives on all levels in Belgium, covering the various policy areas relevant to TUI (in particular aviation, tourism, transport, infrastructure, sustainability, labour). 
• Act as main point of contact amongst our businesses to outline and promote policy in the Belgian market. 
• Analyse and influence policy making in the relevant areas and identify potential opportunities for sectorial alliances. Address issues that involve government tourism policy that impacts our business in the aforementioned areas.  
• Align with TUI Group’s policy approach across the business, providing transparency and consistency to strengthen TUI Group’s leading position and promote TUI’s agenda for growth, when dealing with governments and especially tourism and transport ministries on all governmental levels in Belgium.
• Lead the preparation of and coordinate with TUI Group Policy any ministerial or other policy meetings and VIP visits, as well as national key industry events. Align, coordinate and support our national association memberships in Belgium, such as ABTO, BAR Belgium and BATA. 
• Support and further strengthen TUI’s leading position on sustainability within the industry.
• The role will be part of the Group Public Policy Team, working closely with teams from various business areas such as Airlines, Tour Operator, TUI Hotel & Resort, TUI Musement, Group Legal, Group Comms and other functions on group level as well as on the level of individual entities. 

ABOUT YOU

• Highly motivated individual with a successful track record in dealing with government representatives on all levels in Belgium 
• Exceptional relationship building and influencing skills
• Excellent understanding of policymaking in tourism 
• Excellent understanding and experience in lobbying and public affairs
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) & presentation skills
• Knowledge of the travel and tourism industry and its regulatory framework
• Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to determine key priorities 
• Excellent skills in both main languages spoken in Belgium (French, Dutch) plus excellent English skills  required. Another EU language is an asset
• The role will require occasional travel
