Applying for a role in retail can come with plenty of questions - from the application process and interviews to onboarding, and what to expect when you join the team.
To help you get started, we’ve compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions about our retail opportunities across the United Kingdom and Ireland. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, our Recruitment Team will be happy to assist you.

What does a Retail Travel Advisor do?
You’ll turn holiday dreams into reality, creating and selling personalised experiences for every customer.
Do I need to have sales experience?
Not always. The About the Job and About You sections will guide you on what’s needed. If you have transferable skills, strengths and the potential to deliver great customer experiences within a sales role, we’d still encourage you to apply.
What skills make a difference?
A friendly, confident approach, great communication and a love for working with people. effortlessly balancing conversations and systems.
Are there targets and bonuses associated with it?
Yes, with clear goals designed to keep you motivated and rewarding recognition when you perform at your best.
Will I receive training?
You’ll receive continuous support and training across a variety of systems empowering you with knowledge to succeed.
Can I work weekend only?
You'll need to be flexible, with shift patterns across the week, including weekends and busy periods.

I've been invited to an online assessment - what happens next?
You’ll complete a Situational Judgement Test and a short Personality and Motivational Questionnaire. Full guidance will be shared in your invitation email and on the assessment platform.
Recruitment Process
What is the online assessment?
Our online assessment helps us understand your strengths, skills and behaviours for the role, while also giving you a realistic preview of what it’s like to work with us.
How long will it take to complete?
The assessment typically takes around 30 minutes to complete. There’s a 5 day limit, so you can take your time, pause, and come back to it whenever it suits you.
Will the online assessment link expire?
Yes, we ask that you complete the assessment within 5 working days. Once it’s finished, your application can then be reviewed by the hiring manager.
I'm having issues completing this assessment, what should I do?
First, make sure you’ve viewed all the content in the blue tiles, as the assessment will unlock once these are complete. If you’re still having trouble, try switching to a different browser or device. If the issue continues or you need other support, please email us at csretail.careers@tui.co.uk, we're here to help.
I've already completed this assessment, do I need to complete it again?
Yes please, each application requires a new assessment so we can review your most up to date responses.
Will I receive any feedback when I've completed the assessment?
Yes, you’ll receive a personalised feedback report. This is designed to give you helpful insight into your strengths and development areas.
Will the hiring manager see my feedback report?
No, your feedback report is just for you and isn’t shared with the hiring manager or anyone else.
When will I hear back after completing the assessment?
We’ll be in touch by email or phone within 10 working days of you completing your assessment. During busier periods, it may take a little longer.
What happens if my application is successful?
The hiring manager will contact you, usually by phone or email to arrange a suitable day and time for a telephone interview.
Telephone Interview
Who will I speak to?
You’ll speak with the hiring manager for the role. The call usually lasts around 15–20 minutes.
What is a telephone interview?
It’s a relaxed, two-way conversation where we get to know you a little better - your interest in the role, your experience and how you communicate. It’s also your chance to ask questions and get a feel for whether the role is right for you.
How will I find out the outcome?
We’ll be in touch by email or phone within 5 working days. During busier periods, it might take a little longer.
What happens if I'm successful?
If you’re successful, we’ll invite you to a face-to-face interview at a time that works for you and the hiring manager.
Face-to-Face Interviews
What is a Face-to-Face Interview?
This is an in-person interview at the store you’ve applied to. Your hiring manager will let you know in advance if there’s anything you need to bring. The interview usually lasts around an hour.
How will I find out the outcome?
We’ll be in touch within 5 working days. During busier periods, this may take a little longer, but we’ll keep you informed.
If I'm unsuccessful, when can I re-apply?
You’re welcome to apply again after 6 months.
